Most of our clients are individuals who need to invest in a water pump or water pressurization system for personal use. However, our pumps are powerful and reliable enough to be used by companies and professionals.

If you run a company or work as a professional, you might need to consider investing in a water pump. In this post we give you all the details you may need.

But what types of companies and professionals can use water pumps? Surprisingly, a wide variety of professionals and companies need water pumps.

Examples of businesses that need water pumps:

1. Home repair and renovation

Water pumps, such as submersible pumps, can be very useful when renovating old buildings or repairing damage to more contemporary buildings. They can be used to remove water that has accumulated throughout the year, has been deposited by flooding or has simply spilled from a broken pipe.

If you invest in a water pump, you can address the challenges related to water and repair or renovation of a structure. You cannot repair or renovate a flooded building until the water has been removed, so if you are working on the repair or renovation of a home, it is always advisable to have a submersible water pump at hand.

2. Campsites and outdoor activities businesses

Do you own a campsite or do you have a business that offers outdoor activities? If so, it is very important to keep the land dry enough for customers to use it.

After heavy rain, fields, camps and other outdoor areas can become excessively muddy and almost unusable. Investing in a powerful pump that can be used to remove surface water after heavy rains is an excellent way to avoid this problem.

3. Landscaping

If you own a landscape business or work as a landscape designer, you should definitely invest in a water pump. Water pumps can be very useful if you need to irrigate large areas of land.

In addition, you can create a completely sustainable business if you decide to use solar pumping to perform these tasks, which will also be perceived by your customers as a plus.

With the arrival of heat, all those who have a swimming pool at home are preparing to enjoy it again. But they may encounter the unpleasant surprise that the water pump does not work properly. To avoid this, today we give you some tips for the maintenance of your pool pump.

To prolong the life of your pool’s pump engine and that it works properly, it is important to provide the proper environmental conditions around the engine. The engine itself is quite autonomous and generally needs little attention.

The correct maintenance of any type of water pump is essential for its correct operation. Take note of the following tips!

Tips for maintaining your pool pump

Humidity: water leaks from pump seals or pipe joints must be repaired to avoid bearing and insulation failures. The pump should never get wet. Ride the engine away from low places and wet areas, and take measures to protect it from rain and wind.

Cooling: make sure there is ample air circulation around the engine. Do not allow debris to accumulate around the engine vents. Clean the air inlets as necessary, always making sure that the power is turned off first. If an external engine cover is used, make sure it does not let moisture in and that there is enough space between the engine and the cover to allow fresh air to circulate through the engine. Clean the air inlets as necessary, making sure the power is off first.

It may be that when the engine is running it is too hot, but this does not necessarily mean that it is overloaded. Isolated Class B motors have a maximum operating temperature of 133º C. If the automatic protector does not trip and the amps do not exceed the amps, the motor does not overload.

Seasonality: Whenever the engine shuts down for extended periods, make sure all surfaces, vents and interiors are dry to prevent oxidation. If the engine is kept outdoors, cover it to prevent debris such as leaves, dirt and snow from clogging the entrances.
When restarting the pump and motor after a prolonged idle time, check that the suction is flooded so that the pump seal is wet. Starting the engine with the dry pump seal can damage the seal.

Cleaning: In general, the interior of the engine should not need cleaning if the appropriate safety measures are met against contamination by dirt, lint or sand. If you want to clean the exterior, simply use a damp cloth. Do not spray the engine with a water hose. Flooding the engine can cause permanent damage.

Lubrication: The bearings normally have double sealing and are permanently lubricated. If it seems that the bearings have failed, simply replace them. Noisy bearings are the first sign of bearing failure. If the bearings do not change immediately, the engine may overheat causing other parts to fail. Bearing noise is often a sign that the pump seal has been leaking. Always change the pump seal when changing bearings.

Chemicals: Do not store or use chemicals near the engine. Its fumes will corrode the internal parts of the engine.

Dirt: avoid sweeping or removing dust near the engine while it is running.

These are the main tips you should follow for the proper maintenance of your pool pump. If these tips come a little late and you have discovered that your pool pump does not work, stop by our pool pump section and we will help you find the one that best suits your needs.

After a long, hot and very dry summer, the time has come to save the garden water pump. Generally it is not necessary to water the garden during the fall and winter seasons; since it usually stays in perfect condition with rain and snow.

The garden water pump serves to take the water to the sprinklers or the irrigation system we use, and which is more necessary during the summer and spring; since they are usually warmer seasons and in which the plants need a greater contribution of water.

Before storing it, you must ensure that the water pump is as dry as possible. This means that it must contain the least amount of water possible, preferably none.

Take note of some tricks for maintenance and storage!

Garden water pump storage

First, it is good to store the pump in a place where it cannot be affected by frost and low temperatures. Look for a storage area where the temperature is never less than 0 degrees Celsius.

Any remaining water left in the pump could turn into ice, which expands its volume and could burst the pump components. Even the strongest pump generally cannot withstand that kind of pressure.

Protect it against the ice

Ice formation is one of the biggest enemies of water pumps. As mentioned earlier, we recommend storing the pump and suction hose and other components in a dry and frost-free place.

Of course, you should make sure that the suction and hose do not bend when you roll them. Otherwise, they can weaken at those points and cause leaks and even breakage.

People sometimes ask us if the pump should be filled with antifreeze during storage. Antifreeze should not be used. Antifreeze, and in particular the active glycol component, could damage the pump.

Start-up the following year

Before starting the pump again when necessary, you must first check the hose and pump thoroughly for possible damage.

It is also recommended to apply a new piece of Teflon tape to all connections, otherwise the pump could suck air, which would have a negative effect on its performance.

If you follow these basic maintenance tips, the pump should work in perfect condition for many years.

If you have any questions about the maintenance of your water pumps or need new parts or equipment. Do not hesitate to contact us. In Aiguapres we are experts in water pumps, with more than 35 years of experience.

A sewage pump is often used in construction. For example, to drain the water from heavy rains, which can create large puddles that interfere with work activities.

In addition to construction, homeowners can also be affected by large floods of sewage in cellars or basements. It is likely that in that case they will be forced to use a sewage pump to solve such a situation as quickly as possible.

Wastewater pumps are available in different types and sizes, and each pump has its own characteristics.

Are you looking for a sewage pump? In this post you will find some useful tips that you should keep in mind before making the purchase, so that it fits as much as possible to your needs.

Aspects to consider when buying a sewage pump

Permeability of suspended solids

The most important aspect of a sewage pump is its permeability to suspended solids. Suspended solids can be of different sizes and not all pumps can handle all sizes.

Larger suspended solids can cause serious damage to the pump. For example, when the pump inlet is blocked by a suspended solid, the pump runs dry and could overheat, with all the negative consequences that this entails.

Therefore, always make sure that the wastewater pump you buy can handle the largest suspended solids that will be in the wastewater you intend to drain. Our sewage pumps can process suspended solids from 10 to 50 mm in diameter. This is clearly indicated in each of the sewage pumps.

When fecal matter is processed (for example, in a manure or toilet installation), we recommend using a specific wastewater pump for this type of material; since it has very specific characteristics.

Pump capacity

That is, the maximum amount of water that a pump can process per hour. Differences in height affect the capacity of the pump. The greater the amount of water that needs to be transported, the less water leaves the pipe per hour.

Each wastewater pump includes a graph that indicates how many liters of water can be processed per hour at each height.

Each wastewater pump has a certain pumping capacity, in reference to the maximum amount of water that the pump can process per hour. Do you need to pump a lot of water in a short time? You must choose a high capacity water pump.

Pump height

The maximum height at which water can be pumped. This is equal to the pressure at which the pump processes the water. For example: 40 meters equals 4 bar.

All sewage pumps have a maximum pressure they can reach. This pressure determines the maximum height at which water can be pumped. Using a simple calculation (10 meters = 1 bar), the amount of pressure in the pump can be determined.

These are the main characteristics that must be taken into account when buying a sewage pump. If you have any questions, you can contact us. In Aiguapres we are specialists in water pumps with 35 years of experience in the sector.

A pressure group is a self-priming pump, which is used to increase the pressure in a hydraulic system of flow distribution to consumption units. That is, the pressure group pump absorbs water from the source and uses it at high pressure for different consumption uses.

We can use pressure groups for different water consumptions, such as:

Water the garden.
Increase pressure in toilets, showers or sinks.
Increase the pressure of the water flow to be able to use several appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, coffee makers … at the same time.
Increase the flow and pressure with which the tap water comes out in the home.
Essentially, a pressure group serves us to guarantee the necessary water pressure at the desired supply point.

Different types of pressure groups

In general we can distinguish between two main groups of pressure groups, those that have a deposit and those that do not. Both groups have their advantages and disadvantages, so it is necessary to know them a little more thoroughly.

Pressure group with tank

In the pressure group with a tank, the water pump, pump water until it fills the pressure tank, which is where the water is subsequently sent to faucets, irrigation hoses or appliances.

The pump stops automatically when the tank is full and turns on when it is empty. This means that it does not always have to be in operation, so it avoids annoying noise and consumes less energy. On the contrary, it occupies more space; since we need to also install a tank.

Pressure group without tank

In the pressure group without a tank, the water pump acts directly on the pipe, so it is necessary that it is in operation at all times. Starting up every time a group is opened, the toilet tank is operated or an appliance is turned on.

This type of pressure groups occupy much less space, so they are ideal for installations where we do not have much space. However, noise and electricity consumption are higher; since it must always be on.

Why use a pressure group
It is advisable to use a pressure group when we observe that the flow of water in our installation is not sufficient for its correct operation. For

example, when the tap water pressure is very weak or our appliances take longer than normal to fill with water.

Depending on the type of problem and the type of installation, it is advisable to use one type or another of a pressure group.

Choose the appropriate pressure group

If you have doubts when choosing the most appropriate pressure group for the needs of your installation, we recommend that you let yourself be advised by a professional.

Summer is approaching, and therfore we will begin to prepare our pools. But are you sure you have the right pool pump? In this article, we will help you choose the best option for your pool and find out what features you need, and what you should pay particular attention to.

The swimming pool water pump is the one that lets the water flow through all the pipes until it reaches the filter and returns to the swimming pool after filtering without impurities. This pump is the only mechanical element of the whole system, so it is the most sensitive, so you must be very careful when choosing the pump.

The ideal pool water pump for your installation depends on several factors: Performance, efficiency, flow…. However, there is one point you need to consider, no matter what type of pool you have: You need to choose a pump specifically for pools. This is because conventional water pumps cannot filter leaves and this can lead to impurities that can interfere with the pump’s ability to function.

Swimming pool water pump capacity

The main factor to consider when selecting a pool water pump is performance. When calculating the power required for the water pump, you need to consider the capacity of the pool, as it is ideal that all the water in the pool is filtered over a maximum period of 4 to 6 hours.

To find out how much power you need, simply divide the maximum capacity of your pool (length by width by depth) by 4. This will give you the flow or power your water pump needs.

However, one of the main problems with swimming pool filters is the installation of pumps with a much higher capacity than indicated. In this way, the filter is forced to filter the water much faster, becomes worn out and unusable. For this reason, it is very important to calculate the exact power requirement without falling below it, but without going too far.

Self-priming and centrifugal swimming pool pumps

The most common type of pool water pump used in pools are self-priming and centrifugal pumps. This type of pump sucks the water from the main tank and passes it through the filter and then pushes it back into the tank.

Pump power supply

Usually, water pumps connected to electricity are installed, but we have previously explained the alternative of solar pumps for swimming pools.

These are the most important points to consider when choosing your pool pump. If you have any questions, you can contact us for personal assistance.

When you buy a water pump, you should not only concentrate on the flow rate or the performance of the pump. The ability of a pump to support the loads is exposed to depends primarily on the conctruction and the components it contains.

For many consumers, it is very difficult to see the quality of a water pump at a glance. In fact, there are some manufacturers of dubious quality who deal with the counterfeiting of water pumps. There are some where even experts cannot tell the difference from the original at first glance.

Therefore, there are some things we should check when buying a water pump, especially if we are not experts.

If you have the EC seal of approval

The first recommendation is to take a close look at the nameplate. All pumps marketed in the EU must have a nameplate.

This plate indicates information on the following five points as a minimum requirement:

manufacturer

pump type

serial number.

Year of construction.

CE mark.

Specifying incorrect information is not a minor error. If there is no CE logo, the water pump is not approved. And this makes other data, such as electrical properties, unreliable.

Electrical components are of course an important point. Renowned manufacturers only use certified and therefore safe cables. However, when we buy a product of dubious origin, its components are not verified.

When purchasing a water pump, you should therefore first check whether it bears the CE mark.

Similar components, but of inferior quality.

Renowned manufacturers guarantee that their products are absolutely safe. The use of components of the highest quality is a mandatory requirement. For example, the Anscgluesse are hermetically sealed to avoid short circuits due to the moisture they are exposed to.

Leading manufacturers choose quality products even for the smallest and most hidden components. For example, in the case of slip ring seals on the pump shaft, which are absolutely essential for their function.

However, when we buy a pump of doubtful origin, it is not surprising that we find falsifications of these components which are of very inferior quality.

The risks associated with these counterfeits are very high, ranging from pump malfunctions to short circuits in the network.

Renowned brands offer security

The leading brands on the market offer the security of having first-class components in all their products. Therefore, it is always advisable to purchase products from well-known brands and official distributors.

Users should only buy products from specialists and make sure that the machine is best suited to their needs. There are also secondary factors that are very important, such as shipping areas, ease of repair and distribution network.

The most important thing to check when buying a water pump is to use a reputable supplier who guarantees a good after-sales service, in order to avoid unpleasant problems with the installation.

A circulation pump for the heating is responsible for pumping the hot water in the entire house circuit. The heating circuit is a closed circuit which itself does not have sufficient power to circulate hot water. For this reason, all boilers contain a circulation pump, but an additional pump may be required for support depending on the type of installation.

The installation of a recirculating pump for heating is very simple, just take into account a number of recommendations:

The pump is located in the hot water rising main, as close as possible to the boiler.

It must be connected to the electric current and in series with the boiler pump so that it works simultaneously with the boiler.

If the system is divided into several zones, it makes more sense to use a circulation pump for heating in each zone.

Choose the right size for the pump, i.e. do not exceed the recommended pressure or fall short.

Selection of a suitable circulation pump for the heating system

As with all types of water pumps, when selecting a circulation pump for sufficient heating, it is necessary to adapt to the needs of the system. If we choose a pump that is too small, the pressure is not sufficient and parts of the circuit remain unheated.

However, if we choose a too big one, the pressure will be excessive and can produce noise and wear in the pipes, even leading to leaks.

To determine the most suitable size of the pump, we need to focus on the energy requirements of the installation, as its function is to transport heat and rather than transporting water.

On the market you will find the right circulating pump for the heating system for every type of installation, in size and speed.

A centrifugal pump makes it possible to collect the water and to drain it away from where it is, whether it is in a cellar, garden or well. This type of pump can be very useful, so the questions arise: how does a water pump work exactly, how can you pump water from one place to another with just one device?

In order to answer these questions, we will not only explain the process more closely, but also explain what type of centrifugal pump you need to look for when you need it.

How a centrifugal water pump works

Now that we have discovered that centrifugal pumps are an important component, how do they work? Well, let’s take a look at the internal components to understand this process of water separation.

What is centrifugal force?

If you have ever been on a carousel that spins at high speed, you have undoubtedly felt the effects of centrifugal force. In this case, you feel that you are being pushed to the sides of the carousel because the speed forces objects to orient themselves from the inside out. Therefore, when you swivel a bucket of water in a circle, the water is not spilled. In general, this force is strong and easy to implement, which is why it is so effective with water pumps.

Pump operation

To support water movement, these devices use internal engines (e.g. a propeller in a boat) to move water from one location to another. The faster the impeller rotates, the more water flows through the system and the faster the total flow can be removed. Since the impeller only moves in one direction, the water has only one point of contact, so it will not return to the pipe even if the pump is underwater.

Variants of the centrifugal water pump

Although the process remains the same, you will find several features created for specific purposes. For example, a residual or drainage pump is designed so that thick parts can run through the system along with the water. This is very advantageous when you need to remove water from a flooded area.

Another variant of the pump is the immersion model, i.e. the entire unit is watertight and can therefore be completely immersed in the water. Whenever the centrifugal pump is in a lower position, it is able to remove everything without moving

Some standard pumps are not submersible, so if they fall into the water, they may not function completely anymore.

In general, a centrifugal pump is a great advantage if you live in an area where there are frequent floods. Now that you know how they work, just make sure you choose the model that best suits your needs.

With the beginning of spring comes the time when the sun shines more and there is less rain. In spring and summer, grass and garden plants need a lot of water and simple irrigation from time to time is not enough to maintain them. That’s why we tell you today what kind of water pump you need to water your garden sufficiently.

The decision to buy a sprinkler system is basically very simple, but the question is how exactly does the water get to this sprinkler system? First of all, you need a water pump. However, the type of pump, its performance and pressure will depend on your situation.

What kind of water pump do you need to water your garden?

To water your garden, you can choose from three different types of pumps: Irrigation pumps, well pump or motor.

The first question is very simple: Is there a power source nearby? Although electricity should usually be easily available, this is not always the case (e.g. when working on fields). If no electricity is available, the only suitable pump is the motor pump, which runs on fuel.

If the water depth exceeds 9 meters, the only option is a submersible well pump. Well pumps are submerged in water and can suck water to a depth of several tens of meters.

The third question that arises is: Which devices are connected to the pump? In other words, how many sprinklers will you connect to the pump? This is important for determining the capacity and pressure of the pump. Normally, each pump lists how many sprinklers can be connected.

The fourth question is: What is the source of your water? The water you will pump should always enter the pump without suspended matter. Suspended matter (e.g. sand, gravel, etc.) can cause serious damage to the pumps and should therefore always be kept away.

In almost every case the water contains suspended particles. However, we can solve this problem of solids by eliminating them with a pre-filter using a system similar to that used in swimming pools.

Finally, how long do you want the pump to run? Not all pumps are suitable for long operating times. Continuous operation” refers to situations where a pump has to run for more than 3 hours.

These are the most important questions you should ask yourself before deciding what type of water pump you need to water your garden. If you need more advice, contact us, at Aiguapres we have 35 years of experience with water pumps.
